{Reuploaded} For quite a few months now I've been absolutely dying over getting myself a proper place to lounge while I have some game sessions in my room- I usually just sit on my bed when I play video games (and really anything else that involves the tv), but lately I've really been wanting to get either a sofa or recliner or something to start sitting in since it usually strains my back so I figured why not go the extra mile with a full on gaming chair :) I ended up purchasing the X Rocker Pro Series Pedestal Chair from Walmart for $129.00 so I figured I'd give a bit of a review on it for anyone else that's interested!
For those of you who don't know, a gaming chair is basically a chair or rocker that has a bunch of built in speakers in it that wirelessly connects to the TV and allows the sound to travel out of the speakers of the chair instead of the TV, which makes a really nice "surround sound" effect that's perfect for gaming or even just watching a movie since it makes you feel much more involved in everything going on. The volume of the chair goes beyond loud enough for any normal everyday use, along with days you really wanna get hyped into what you're playing (in other words, it can get looooud haha.) There are two speakers on the sides of the headrest and one on the back of the chair in the lower center.
The X Rocker series that I have comes with a bunch of adapters along with a wireless transmitter that also allow me to hook up any MP3 device to play my music through, which so far has been AMAZING. The sound quality is so superb and the chair has different knobs on the side that allow me to adjust the speakers bass and volume along with even the vibration given off through the chair to allow the ultimate, custom experience on what you personally prefer for your entertainment needs.
The ring around the volume lights up blue while the chair is on, shown above. |
The reason I bought this particular chair is definitely the pedestal on it, it was a huge bonus for me and I really wasn't interesting in any gaming chair without it since I don't like the idea of sitting so close to the floor like with the other chairs I've seen, seems much more uncomfortable that way :{ Though there were quite a few other chairs on the Walmart site with the pedestal feature included, this one definitely stuck out to me with its big size and really well-made look.
Ratings:
Shipping and Packaging: 5 / 5The chair was packaged beautifully when it arrived with the main vinyl leather-like seating part being covered in plastic and the other pieces, such as the armrests, being covered in a thick silver foam material so everything was in tip top shape. And can you believe it came 2 days after I ordered it! I was so happy :D It did require a bit of setting up but all the tools and screws needed came in the box with everything else so it probably took me less then ten minutes to do.
Price: 4.5 / 5
Though I'm honestly an insanely frugal person, I found this chair to be a great deal at $129.00 on the Walmart website as a rollback price with the regular price being $199.00, and I believe I only paid $2.50 for shipping so given all the uses it has, I'd definitely say its worth it.
Comfort: 4 / 5
The comfort of this chair is great, considering its a huge size for any age and gender and made out of a really nice vinyl, leather-like material, with lots of padding and support on the bottom and back areas. My only complaint with this entire chair is that the actual seating part seems a bit short, as in my butt feels like it could slip off at any moment, but I really think I just need to give it time to break in and really loosen up! I wouldn't mind a recliner type feature either to relax my feet on, but thats probably just a biiit overreaching :x Other than that everything looks and feels exactly how I imagined it would :) Very true to all the stock photos.
Update*- I changed the comfort to a 4 from a 4.5 because overtime I don't have the issue of the seat feeling too short anymore, but now the padding does seem a bit less supporting and uncomfortable now that I've gotten it worn in on the bottom area, so down the road I'll probably be investing in a cushion for added comfort.
Sound Quality: 5 / 5
I was probably most nervous about what the sound quality of this chair would be like, but it's honestly waaay beyond what I imagined. I really couldn't be happier and I'd gladly use this for all my tv watching along with music listening even without sitting in it just for the sound, the quality and volume settings are more than amazing and go beyond my expectations.
Overall Rating: 4.5 / 5
Overall, I really truly love this chair to death and now I'm sad I made myself wait so long to buy it haha! For the price it went way beyond what I anticipated and being able to hook up to my Iphone was an awesome added bonus. A few cons I have are that the chair has to be hooked up to an outlet which I wouldn't mind if the cord wasn't so short, and once in a while the sound with randomly cut out during a game I'm playing for a few short seconds, but I'm not sure whether thats a problem with the actual chair or just the batteries in the transmitter dying too quickly. However even with those cons, the overall quality of the materials and sound alike really make this chair worth every penny and I love all the adjustable settings, I couldn't possibly recommend this enough so if you or someone on your (late) Christmas list has been looking around for a good gaming chair, I would definitely recommend checking this out :)
